Art of Fact

Five artists of distinct ethno-cultural background have been commissioned to create art work to will be exhibited throughout the bicentennial celebration of the War of 1812.

Art-of-Fact explores the War of 1812 through contemporary visual art installations in the guise of museum displays. The project intervenes in the museum space as artists create fictional historic objects, accounts, and/or retellings of the War of 1812.

Art-of-Fact plays with the usual expectations of a museum environment – educational, historical, factual – by offering non-traditional, non-literal, or non-factual interpretations of the events of the War of 1812 in a museum-like format.
