Phoebe Jean (Carol) Ede Arts & Culture Wall Of Fame

Phoebe Jean (Carol) Ede was born in 1938 and is a lifelong resident of Chippawa. Carol began studying oil painting at an early age. After learning the fine art of fabric painting, she taught at Peterson Community Workshop for many years while at the same time creating painted and embroidered clothing for sale at a local winery. She also gave her time and talents to bring the love of artistic expression to many children by teaching various crafts at Peterson’s.
As a watercolourist, she is an active member of the Niagara District Art Association, Parkway Artists’ Guild, and the Chippawa Watercolour Association, and has exhibited several of her award-winning paintings throughout the Niagara area. Her love of community has prompted her to become an active member of the Village of Chippawa Citizen’s Committee, the Willoughby Historical Society, Willoughby Historical Museum and the Peterson Community Workshop. She has always been generous with her time and talent; with good humour and a twinkle in her eye she often donates her works of art to various groups throughout Niagara for fundraising events and memorials, including schools, museums, libraries and churches, the YWCA, Willoughby Township Hall, the Chippawa Legion and more. Carol also delved deeply into the history of Willoughby Township and Chippawa to write “History of the Village of Chippawa – Sesquicentennial 1850-2000” in time to celebrate that community’s 150th Anniversary of incorporation several years ago. Carol Ede continues to be an active community volunteer.
