Community Art Project at the History Museum
The annual Community Art Project is back this summer at the Niagara Falls History Museum, led by winning Poet Author and Arts Educator Nadine Williams. Niagara Falls residents are invited to participate in free community art workshops at the Museum in July, August and September. The project, titled 'The Fabric of Our Being', will become a quilt made of sketches, quotes and poetry celebrating The International Decade for People of African Descent. The final piece will be displayed at Niagara Falls Night of Art on September 19, 2024.

In 2018, The Government of Canada recognized the United Nations proclamation of The International Decade for People of African Descent to celebrate their contributions to Canadian society and fight racism and discrimination. This installation will join one of many in Canada depicting the rich history of African Canadians and their contributions to the fabric of our being. Participants of all backgrounds are invited to engage in a drop-in basis over the summer to create thematic tiles on paper utilizing the poem The Fabric of Our Being by Nadine Williams to guide their creations. Be a part of the journey to educate and celebrate with IDPAD.
