Niagara Falls Culture and the Exchange are looking for musicians and spoken word artists for our 2023 musical projects.

Please provide your top 3 choice works for selection into the category you are looking for [Trail Mix, Farmer’s Market or Events]. You are invited to apply for any or all calls, please just provide your specific type of music that best represents you for the initiative to which you are submitting. Spoken word submissions can consist of humour, poetry, short story. Niagara Falls’ theme is a bonus. Work runs between 2 - 4.5 minutes.

#1 Trail Mix: Local Trails & Local Artists

Apply till April 3rd

Trail Mix is an auditory accompaniment to your walk, featuring the work of local artists. You can listen to the mix while enjoying the sights of the Millennium Trail. QR codes along the trail will take you to music, humour or spoken word on your smart device.

Culture is offering $50 for the rights to use the recorded work for the 2023/24 season of Trail Mix. Trail Mix is music or spoken word that we host in Bandcamp albums, accessible to the public by trailside QR codes along Niagara Falls’ Millennium Trail.

Requirements for Trail Mix:

  • Music or spoken word [poetry or story] is your original
  • 3 selections of your choice
  • Guarantee that there are no offensive lyrics in the specified work/s
  • Guarantee that you or your bandmate(s) has direct connection to Niagara Falls - either born and raised or lives here
  • Must upload square headshot, bio and links to your original music
  • May also share video
  • We will eventually require a .WAV file format for selected works

To support our city's talent we ask that you have lived for a few years, or are currently living in the Falls. As well, having Niagara Falls bandmates will qualify as well. We know bandmates come and go, but we are requesting that at least 30% of the band members are from or currently live in Niagara Falls.

 

#2 Farmers’ Market Musicians

Apply by May 1.

Market Day! Every Saturday from May to October

We will be open every Saturday, rain or shine, from 7am-1pm from May 20 to October 28 at the Niagara Falls Exchange (located on Sylvia Place). The Exchange will be looking for Duos and Single performers who would like to perform at the Market (standard Musician’s Union fees apply).

 

#3 Exchange Event Musicians

Apply by May 1.

We will be looking for groups/duos/single performers and dj’s for various events at the Exchange.
