George Bailey was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland in 1944, and came to Niagara Falls at the age of eight when his father took the position of first mate on the Maid of the Mist.

George worked on a full-time basis in the Niagara Falls tourism industry, at the Sheraton Foxhead Hotel as General Manager, the Skylon Tower as Director of Marketing and the Niagara Parks Commission as Director of Communication.  While at work, he always had a camera with him to take photographs to accompany the promotional literature he wrote.  Taking an early retirement from Niagara Parks Commission in 1999, he wanted to keep active and the life of a travel writer appealed to his sense of adventure.

He has written close to 300 travel articles for newspapers and magazines throughout the U.S. and Canada and published five books on Niagara Falls. As a local Niagara Falls expert he has appeared on the Discovery Channel, CNN, Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, Canada AM and ABC’s Good Morning America.  George has escorted numerous high profile individuals touring Niagara, including Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry, U.S. President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter, and numerous movie stars, politicians and others.

George is always ready for a new challenge. Who knows what lies ahead?  He sees every day as an opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
