A Director, Actor and Producer, April Mullen has quickly become a prolific Canadian filmmaker.

Mullen, alongside Tim Doiron, co-founded WANGO Films, a production company that has produced five feature films in under a decade. All of the company’s features have been directed by Mullen and shot in the Niagara Region. The films include cult hit Rock, Paper, Scissors: the Way of the Tosser, GravyTrain, Dead Before Dawn 3D, 88, and Farhope Tower.

Her innovative feature film Dead Before Dawn 3D confirms Mullen as not only the youngest, but the first female director to complete a Stereoscopic 3D feature film.  The film went on to win the Prestigious International Perron Crystal Award in Liege, Belgium.

Mullen directed the feature film Below Her Mouth, which had its 2016 World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and was shot by an all-female crew. Mullen also received the Birk Diamond award, honouring women who have made an impact in the film industry.

Mullen has a unique sensibility as a director, focusing heavily on visual tones and strong, original storytelling. She loves highlighting the city of Niagara Falls with her films, fostering young filmmakers and hiring local talent and musicians.  Her parents, Michael and Carole, along with her sisters Melanie, Faye and Stacey, have always supported her dreams and helped them become a reality.  Her family’s business, Mullen Garden Market, is one of her local places of solace and inspiration.

April Mullen is an innovator, maverick filmmaker and true young leader in the entertainment industry. Her spirit and energy for life, love and creating is infectious, always exemplifying her core belief that 'everything is possible'.
